Our projects in San Juan del Sur Nicaragua:

“All of our projects are on the South Side of San Juan del Sur (SOJU). Close enough to town but far away to experience the peace and tranquility of nature, close to large empty beaches with great surf where pristine mountains meet the ocean.”

"La Revolución" Paradise immersed in a Nature Reserved

A biological corridor that provides connectivity between landscapes, ecosystems and natural habitats.

These lots are on the edge of a 50-to-75-meter drop that faces the 80-acre Award Winning Wildlife Reserve.

This location puts you literally gazing at the tree top lines where birds and monkeys swing by!

Located along the road from San Juan del Sur to the beaches of Playa Hermosa, Yankee, and El Coco, this area is particularly well-suited for commercial purposes.

The ample space of these lots make it ideal for little hotels, Bed & Breakfasts as they sit on a hill providing enough privacy and view to the reserve as well as closeness to the main road.

Hiking trails are a main attraction in La Revolucion.

SURF

All tree proyects sit 5 minutes away from 3 surf breaks!
Nicaragua has recently gained a name for its surfing hotspots. It is ideal for people who want to avoid crowded beaches. With an average of 300+ days per year of offshore winds attributed to the proximity of Lake Nicaragua, the surfing in Nicaragua remains optimal all day long, with the tides being your main deciding factor of when to paddle out.

NEARBY WAVE BREAKS!

Playa Yankee: For the expert surfer the waves are quick and powerful breaking on a beach break left point on the south side. There is also a point break on the north end of the beach that works best on low tide. Waves can range from chest high to a little overhead.

Playa Hermosa: It is one of our favorite beaches. It is a 2 mile long white sand beach with a number of river mouths, sand bars and other sections to surf at. It is a great spot for intermediate – begginers (becuase there is so much open space to stay away from other surfers). There is a great restaurant on the beach where you can eat and drink your favorite cocktail.  If you are interested in staying on the beach, there is a reasonably priced.

Playa Remanso: This beach provides long gentle rollers- making it an easy paddle out which is ideal for the beginner and fun for everyone else. It is a beautiful white sand bay with small bars on the beach and shaded areas open to everyone. A great place to learn with gentle waves, warm and friendly waters. This is the closest break to San Juan del Sur just 5 minutes south of town.

About the founder

Juan Manuel Caldera is of half Nicaraguan and half Anglo/Irish decent.  Well-recognized for his diverse work as a freelance sound technician and field producer for companies such as National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and PBS, as well as ABC, CBS, NBC, and ESPN, he has had more than twenty years’ experience working in Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.

Born in Nicaragua and educated in Nicaragua and at Boston College, Juan, who is bi-lingual in Spanish and English, began his career in 1984 with NBC News with the coverage of the Nicaraguan Contra War.  While working with NBC, he covered high-profile stories in the Caribbean and Latin America, including the US invasions of Panama and Haiti.

While working with CBS during Desert Storm, he was with newsman Bob Simon’s team when they were captured, imprisoned and tortured by the Iraqis for 40 days. Undeterred, he also covered the Persian Gulf War II for NBC.

Though in his professional life he has seen more than his share of excitement, Juan is a gentle soul whose true passion is the renaissance of Nicaragua,  – “the land of lakes and volcanoes”. With a twinkle in his eye, Juan will eagerly talk about how Nicaragua, although deeply damaged by both natural and political disasters, is now emerging as a future tourist hot spot, with its pristine beaches, active volcanoes, world-class surf breaks, rainforests, lakes and rivers, sea turtle nesting sites, enormous cattle farms and cool mountainous regions.

It is a land of interest not only to tourists, but also to foreign investors in land and development.  While wanting to aid investment in Nicaragua, Juan also wants to preserve Nicaragua’s incredible natural beauty.  Thus, he devotes all of his free time to projects that will create more interest in investing in Nicaragua while at the same time ensuring the responsible development of this country of his birth.

Juan currently divides his time between Managua and San Juan del Sur, serving as an intermediary between foreign investors, the local landowners, businesses and politicians.

His contacts with business executives and with government officials in Nicaragua are extensive, and he has an exhaustive list of references.
